Adverts in glossy magazines show fur to be a symbol of glamour and elegance, however the reality of the fur industry is very different. Every year millions of fur bearing animals are inhumanly killed for their fur, which is the part they just happen to leave out of their elegant adverts!

Ranch raised foxes are kept in cages that measure only  2.5 feet square, with up to four animals being kept  in each cage

Every year thousands of "trash animals" including cats and dogs are crippled or killed by traps

Animals can suffer in traps for days, up to 1 in 4 of animals caught in traps chews off their own feet to escape only to die later from blood loss, fever or gangrene

To kill animals without damaging their fur, trappers will usually stangle, beat or stomp them to death. On fur farms animals may be gassed, electrocuted, poisoned with strychnine or have their necks snapped, These methods are not always effective and some animals "wake up" whilst being skinned

It makes me very angry to think that some people when they see a beautiful animal such as big cats, the first thing they think of is "wouldn't that make a great coat!!" The thought of animals becoming endangered or possibly even going extinct because someone either wants their fur to wear or as a rug so they can walk on it makes me feel not just angry but also very sad too. The world is full of amazing creatures, but I would not like to think that we will all wait until they have all disappeared before we realise just how amazing they are because once they are gone it will be much too late!

I am sure you will remember a few years ago a group of supermodels who posed in a photoshoot claiming that they would rather go naked than wear fur. Funny how someone was persauded to change their mind when the fur industry gave them an offer they could not refuse. Hang your head in shame, you know who you are!
