Like many other people, i used to think that the Royal White Bengal Tiger was a rare and endangered type of tiger and that those who were breeding them where doing so in order to preserve the species. However I now know that they are in fact a species which does not exist. There has never been such a creature living in the wild. They have only ever existed in captivity, a result of human intervention in nature

White tigers can only continue to exist by continual use of inbreeding, which results in many defects, early deaths and still births. The following defects occur in white tigers as a result of inbreeding:

.immune deficiency
.scoliosis of the spine (distorted spine)
.cleft palates
.mental impairments

.grotesquely crossed eyes that bulge from their skull

Due to the above defects very few white tigers that are born are suitable for display, however this does not stop zoo's etc from continuing to breed them as they know that a display of white tigers will be a good way to draw in the public. In other words they are happy to allow these tigers to suffer so long as they can make a good profit from them. Somehow i don't think the public would be so charmed by the sight of white tigers if they knew the reality of the situation and how much these poor animals (the ones not "pretty" enough to display) have to suffer
